Updating Parent/Guardian and Emergency Contacts

Your Skyward Family Access account will allow you to manage your student's emergency contacts as well as parent/guardian phone numbers. 
 

Please note that any individual designated as a guardian is presumed to be authorized to pick up the student. In the event a guardian is legally prohibited from picking up the student, the parent or legal custodian must contact the campus registrar to place a notification on the student's account. Legal documentation is required to implement this alert.

 
  • Log into Skyward Family Access.  (instructions for login here)
  • On the home page for your student, click the Student Info tab on the left-hand side of the screen.
  • Your student's information page will be displayed.  On the top right side, above the school name, click the link that says Request Changes for XXXX (student name)
  •  A drop-down menu will appear.  You can choose Family Information to access and update the parent/guardian phone numbers and email addresses for your student,  Emergency Contacts to view and/or delete existing contacts, or Add Emergency Contacts to add a new contact.

1. Updating Parent/Guardian Contacts

  • If you click the option to Family Information, the following screen will be displayed.  
  • Update your parent contact numbers and email addresses for parents on this screen, and click Save when done.

2. Viewing/Updating Existing Emergency Contacts

Georgetown ISD recommends that every student have at least 2 additional emergency contacts listed in addition to parents in the event of an emergency if the parents cannot be reached.

Please note that any individual designated as an emergency contact is presumed to be authorized to pick up the student.

  • If you click the option Emergency Contacts, the following screen will be displayed.  
  • You can delete contacts or update the contact name, phone numbers, and relationship to the student. Make sure you click Save when done.
  • Emergency contacts should NOT be parents/guardians but additional responsible adults who could be contacted in the event that GISD staff cannot reach the parents.

 

3. Adding Emergency Contacts

  • If you click the option to Add Emergency Contacts, the following screen will be displayed.  
  • Enter the contact name, phone numbers, and relationship to the student. 
  • Emergency contacts should NOT be parents/guardians but additional responsible adults who could be contacted in the event that GISD staff cannot reach the parents.
