Georgetown ISD has a strong commitment to delivering high-quality learning experiences for all students in our district. When you Choose GISD, you can feel confident that your student is receiving personalized learning delivered by high-quality teachers every day. Starting in the 2026-2027 school year, families have more choice when enrolling in our schools. Whether you are currently zoned to Georgetown ISD or are looking to join our family from outside our boundaries, we invite you to explore the following transfer options.

Acceptable Transfer Request Reasons (All grade levels below are for the next school year)

1. Available in grades KG - 08 for 2026-2027 school year

In-District Transfer - Open Enrollment
Out-of-District Transfer - Open Enrollment

2. Available in grades KG - 12 for 2026-2027 school year

Current GISD Employee
Current Active Military Member
Current Peace Officer

3. Available in grades 10- 12 for 2026-2027 school year

Stay Put Rule (High School) - (Currently enrolled only)

In-District Transfers

The In-District Transfer forms will be available starting March 6th, 2026.
Parents/guardians may request a transfer from their student’s current home campus to another campus within GISD. Transfer requests may be granted on a space-available basis for grade levels and programs at the requested campus. You may apply for an in-district transfer if:
- You live in the district, and your child prefers to attend a different school than your zoned campus.
- You have moved within the Georgetown ISD attendance boundaries and want your student to remain at their current school.
Students must meet GISD eligibility criteria
Transfer students must comply with all school district and UIL rules.

UIL Transfer Eligibility criteria:

Detailed eligibility guidelines are available through the coach/director of the extra-curricular activity or the UIL. Parents should verify activity eligibility before applying.

Application Process for Currently Enrolled Students: Application forms can be accessed through your Skyward Family Access account by clicking on “Online Forms” and completing the form 2026-2027 Student Transfer Application.
Application Process for New to GISD Students: Follow the instructions on the New Student Enrollment page and then select New Student Transfer when selecting "Expected School to enroll into". (Pictured Below)
Deadline: The deadline to submit a transfer request is April 1, 2026. Decisions will be communicated starting May 1, 2026.

Transfer Eligibility Criteria

Good attendance & positive behavior
Transfers may be granted on a space-available basis for grade levels and/or programs at the requested campus.
Each student must meet transfer eligibility criteria. Sibling transfer requests are reviewed independently; approval for one sibling does not ensure approval for others.
Approval requires a consistent demonstration of good attendance and positive behavior.
Transfer students must comply with all school district and UIL rules.
Parents/guardians are responsible for transportation for all approved transfers.

Instructions for New Families to Georgetown ISD

To successfully submit your new student transfer application, follow these essential steps to ensure it is processed at the correct campus. The most important step is to ensure that in the drop-down menu for Expected School to Enroll into, the New Student Transfers school is selected, otherwise your application may be cancelled.

NOTE: These instructions are for families requesting a student transfer for a campus that they are not zoned to attend.

New Student Online Enrollment

Please use the following link to find instructions on how to create a new student online enrollment account or log into the online enrollment portal.
- Online Enrollment Application
After logging into the online enrollment portal, an instruction text box will appear at the top of the application. At the bottom of the box is a reminder to select the New Student Transfers school.

The school is selected within Step 1: Student Information

The drop-down menu is located near the bottom of Step 1. After all of the required fields are completed in Step 1, you can move onto the next step.

The Student Transfer Application Form is available when you reach Step 6: Additional District Forms. This is a required form and is used to process your transfer request.

The form lists the available transfer request reasons and grade levels at the top.

Your selection should be entered in the Transfer Request Information section. There is also an optional explanation box to enter additional transfer request details.

After you’ve completed all of the required fields, scroll to the top and click the Save button.

BOARD POLICY

Intra-district (transfers between district schools) and inter-district (transfers of out-of-district students into GISD) transfers are governed by board policy FDB (LEGAL), FDB (LOCAL), and FDA (LOCAL) and FDA (LEGAL).
