Student Transfers

Except as outlined below, Georgetown ISD schools are closed to out-of-district transfer requests, and students living in GISD are required to attend the school zoned for their residence address.

TRANSFER WINDOW DATES

In order to ensure adequate planning and resources for the next school year, please follow the appropriate transfer window dates for your circumstance:

The Grandfathering window opens February 11 and runs through March 1, 2024.
The Intra-District Transfer window for students of GISD employees opens on March 18, 2024.
The Special Consideration Transfer window runs from March 18 and runs through May 1, 2024.

All applications should be submitted during these posted periods. Transfer application decisions will be communicated to families by mid to late May. After that time, students who have not received an approved 2024-2025 transfer application will be returned back to their zoned campus for the 2024-2025 school year. If you have a unique situation that requires consideration for a transfer request outside of the transfer window, please call our district office at (512) 943-5000.

BOARD POLICY

Intra-district (transfers between district schools) and inter-district (transfers of out-of-district students into GISD) transfers are governed by board policy FDB (LEGAL), FDB (LOCAL), and FDA (LOCAL) and FDA (LEGAL).
