    Assistance League of Georgetown Area

    Assistance League of Georgetown Area partners with GISD to facilitate a program called Operation School Bell.

    How do they help GISD students?

    Operation School Bell provides back-to-school clothing and shoes to qualifying students with the goal of improving school attendance, academic performance and self-esteem.

    "Assistance League volunteers love transforming the lives of children by providing new school clothing to qualifying GISD elementary students. It warms our hearts to see the smiles on their faces and hear words of appreciation from the parents."

  • Backpack Buddies

    The Georgetown Backpack Buddies program serves GISD students at-risk of experiencing food insecurity over weekends, school holidays.

    How do they help GISD Students?

    Backpack Buddies students receive packs of six nutritious, non-perishable food Items, which are packed by BackpackBuddies volunteers, for weekends and school holidays. 

    Following Winter Storm Uri, they worked with the district to support a food and water drive for families who were impacted.

  • Girls Empowerment Network

    Girls Empowerment Network provides Girl Connect, a program for girls in 6th-12th grades.

    How do they help GISD students?

    Through weekly after-school sessions, Girl Connect aims to increase self-efficacy in confidence, coping skills, communication, critical thinking, collaboration and creativity through discussion of topics relevant to issues girls face today.
