GISD Honors Trustees During School Board Recognition Month
January is School Board Recognition Month, and Georgetown ISD is celebrating its trustees for their dedication and commitment to the district and its students.
The theme of this year’s School Board Recognition Month is Leadership for Tomorrow’s Texas, which highlights the school board trustee’s commitment to creating meaningful educational experiences and opportunities that prepare students for college, careers, and beyond.
Throughout the month, campuses and departments will recognize the board through various events including a brief presentation at the start of the Jan. 21 board meeting.

You Might Qualify for Federal Benefits- Apply Today
What’s known as the “Federal Free and Reduced Lunch Application” is really about so much more than lunch. Your child is already benefiting from the meals GISD is able to provide, and some of you may already be benefitting from the free and reduced lunch program.
Applications also help determine the amount our schools receive in federal funding. This money is used in a number of ways including learning programs like STEM and Literacy nights and other educational programming.
And your family can qualify for added benefits for your household but only if you complete the application. Please consider completing the form today.

GHS Theater Presents: Sweeney Todd the Musical (School Edition) Jan. 31 - Feb. 2
GHS Theater will hold performances of Sweeney Todd the Musical (School Edition) from January 31 to February 2 at the Klett PAC. Friday and Saturday performances will begin at 7pm and Sunday’s will begin at 2pm.

Join us Sunday, March 2, 2025, at Noon for the Chase the Chief Family Fun Run and 5K! Chase the Chief raises funds to support Georgetown’s local physical education programs while promoting Fun Family Fitness! Flyers will be sent home with GISD elementary students in January.

From the Georgetown Project: MLK Day of Youth Service Jan. 20
Calling all high schoolers! Join The Georgetown Project and Afterschool Alliance Partners for a Youth Service Day honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Morning snacks and lunch will be provided. Students will earn a certificate for three hours of service.

You must provide your own transportation. Please bring a non-perishable food item to donate if you are able.

From H-E-B: H-E-B and the University Interscholastic League Team up to Present Scholarship Program for Community Service Excellence - Deadline to apply is Jan. 31
For the seventh consecutive year, H-E-B will award 15 high school seniors who participate in UIL competitions with a $2,000 scholarship in recognition of their community service and involvement in their communities.
Five students who compete in athletics, five students who compete in music, and five more students who compete in academic events will be selected from the pool of applicants from across the state.
H-E-B will award each selected student with a $2,000 scholarship toward their college/university of choice. Recipients will be spotlighted during the 2025 UIL Texas Girls & Boys Basketball State Championships. Learn more and apply online at https://www.sportsinaction.com/scholarship/.
From A+Federal Credit Union: Scholarships Available
A+FCU is awarding sixty $2,000 scholarships to students who are or become A+FCU members or are the child of a current member. Eligible applicants must also attend or plan to attend an accredited college or university and be: Graduating high school seniors OR College students pursuing an education degree who have been admitted to the College of Education and have a minimum of 60 collegiate hours OR Teachers pursuing a graduate degree.
The 2024 A+FCU Scholarship Application is open through February 7, 2025.
