GISD Ballet Folklorico: A Program that Flourishes with Every New Year

In this week’s eNews:

Credit by Exam

Credit by Exam is offered by Georgetown ISD for enrolled students in grades K-12. GISD offers exams free of charge to students.

The purpose of CBE testing is for acceleration (students wishing to test out of a grade or course without having prior instruction), verification (verifying credit from homeschool or non-accredited private/public school), or recovery of credit for a course in which the student has had prior instruction.

For more information, please visit our website at https://www.georgetownisd.org/departments/assessment-feedback/credit-by-exam or speak with your student’s counselor.

GISD Celebrates Walk and Roll to School Day Oct. 8

Students in Georgetown will join those from all over the U.S. walking, biking or rolling to school on October 8. The annual event encourages children to walk or bike to school in order to increase physical activity, reduce traffic congestion, and help the environment.

The event is being organized by Georgetown ISD in partnership with the City of Georgetown. Look for additional public safety officers in school zones on Oct. 8 and follow posted school zone signs as we encourage safe transport to schools.

Learn more about events happening in places all over the country at walkbiketoschool.org. These events build connections among families, schools, and the broader community.

East View Blood Drive Oct. 29

East View will host a blood drive sponsored by HOSA on October 29 from 9am-3pm. Come lend a helping arm, donate blood to support your community and save local lives. Bloodmobile buses will be stationed in the front of the school for the drive.

Participants must be 17 years old and 115 lbs to donate. See the event flyer for more details, including a link to make your appointment.
