Credit by Exam

Credit by Exam is offered by Georgetown ISD for enrolled students in grades Kindergarten-12. GISD offers exams free of charge to students. The purpose of CBE testing is for acceleration (students wishing to test out of a grade or course without having prior instruction), verification (verifying credit from homeschool or non-accredited private/public school), or recovery of credit for a course in which the student has had prior instruction.

For more information, please visit our website at https://www.georgetownisd.org/departments/assessment-feedback/credit-by-exam or speak with your student’s counselor.

Pre-K Enrollment Opportunities Now Open

Pre-K Enrollment is now open for all eligible 4 year old students zoned for Georgetown ISD.

For more details on registration and eligibility, please visit our website.

Returning Student Registration Now Open for 2025-2026

If your student is currently enrolled and will be returning to GISD schools next year, returning student registration is now open in Skyward Family Access.  Please take a few minutes to provide updated information for each of the students in your family, including cell phone numbers and emergency contact information so that campuses have accurate information for the upcoming school year.

Students with address changes, transfer requests, lease agreements, or who are moving to 6th or 9th grade will need to provide an updated proof of residency document such as a recent utility bill (gas, water, or electric), mortgage statement, property tax statement, or lease agreement as part of returning student registration. This can be uploaded to Skyward or submitted to your campus registrar.

If your student will not be returning to GISD schools next year, please notify us so we may update our records accordingly.

Teacher Incentive Allotment Information Now Available on our Website

Our Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) webpage is now available here, where you will find our GISD TIA Handbook - a comprehensive and detailed reference tool. The webpage includes additional helpful resources as well as links to information on becoming a National Board Certified Teacher.

Student Transfer Information - Window Open through May 1

The GISD transfer window opened on March 14 and closes on May 1. Families who submit their transfer requests by the May 1 deadline can expect to receive a decision by the end of May. Please note that Georgetown ISD schools are closed to out-of-district transfer requests, and students living in GISD are required to attend the school zoned for their residence address.

  • All transfer requests granted for the school year 2024-2025 were effective for one year ONLY. Any student not approved for transfer will be reassigned to their zoned campus.
  • Any family wishing to make a transfer request for the 2025–2026 school year MUST enter a new request by reaching out to your campus registrar.
  • As shared during the rezoning process, grandfathering allowances were granted for one year only. Current 7th graders may apply for a transfer to remain at their current campus under the Special Considerations transfer request. Due to capacity limitations at our campuses, younger siblings grandfathered during rezoning will not be approved for transfer again this year.

Visit our website for more information and the latest updates on transfers.
