GISD Customer Selection Criteria: Your Feedback Requested
We recognize that parents have a choice in where they send their children to school. Over the last few months, we have been asking stakeholders what they think GISD does well - our image of difference - compared to other K12 organizations. Tell us Your Top 3 in this quick one-question survey.
2025-2026 Calendar Adjustment for Elementary Campuses
New Daily Schedule
Beginning next school year, our elementary campuses will have an additional 45 minutes added to the master schedule for teacher planning and collaboration every two weeks. To accommodate for this change, elementary school schedules will increase daily by 3 minutes:
7:40 am Start time daily (no change)
3:03 pm Dismissal time daily (currently 3 pm)
These small changes help ensure that appropriate time is available for high-quality instruction and transition throughout the day, without having to add additional days to our academic calendar.
New Early Release Days for Elementary Students
To support this focus on collaboration and planning, we are adding four early release days for elementary campuses only. On these dates, elementary students will be released at 12:55 p.m:
- August 29, 2025
- October 31, 2025
- December 5, 2025
- February 6, 2026
These changes to the 2025-2026 school year calendar are also updated on our website.
Childcare Support for Families
We understand that schedule changes can affect family routines. To help, the YMCA will offer childcare on all early release days – including the newly added ones – for both:
- Families already enrolled in YMCA programs; and
- Families who only need care on early release days.

Student Registration Now Open for 2025-2026
If your student is currently enrolled and will be returning to GISD schools next year, returning student registration is now open in Skyward Family Access. Please take a few minutes to provide updated information for each of the students in your family, including cell phone numbers and emergency contact information so that campuses have accurate information for the upcoming school year.
Families with address changes, transfer requests, lease agreements, or who are moving to 6th or 9th grade will need to provide an updated proof of residency document such as a recent utility bill (gas, water, or electric), mortgage statement, property tax statement, or lease agreement as part of returning student registration. This can be uploaded to Skyward or submitted to your campus registrar.
If your student will not be returning to GISD schools next year, please notify us so we may update our records accordingly.
Enrollment is also open for new students! If you know a family new to Georgetown, please point them to our website at www.georgetownisd.org/enrollatGISD to learn more and start the registration process.
