Coach Reyes - Physical Education & Athletics
My Education & Background
I am a graduate of Southwestern University in Waxahachie, Tx. This year will be my 15th year teaching in GISD and my 18th year as an educator. I taught 2 years in Dallas and 3 years in Round Rock ISD previously before moving my family to Georgetown. I love being a part of this great city and school district.
Our Physical Education Department and Athletics’s objective is to assist in developing our student-athletes into well-adjusted individuals: physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially. Through the varied activities of the program, we hope to provide challenging and satisfying experiences in meaningful movement, self-expression, physical well-being, and knowledge and techniques in fitness and athletics.
We will cover a variety of activities with a focus on movement, cardio vascular, resistant training and mental and emotional health. We will cover all the sports offered in middle school, but also add lifestyle fitness activities, such as yoga, dance, cardio and weight training.
We will follow the same sports seasons as 7th and 8th grade athletics, with a focus on developmental skills and competition opportunities. We will also do weight training on Tuesday and Thursdays. At the beginning of the year we will use only body weight and focus on the girls learning the correct form and building core strength. We will move into the weight room for light weights once we see that the girls are ready to progress.
I am very excited to have your student and hope that my class is an enjoyable part of her school day!
