In this week’s eNews:
Join us March 2 for the 8th Annual State of the District event
This free event invites the community to an immersive experience featuring the work of students and staff district-wide in the areas of academics, career and technical education, and fine arts, including innovative projects and programs that were funded with grants from the Georgetown ISD Education Foundation. Interact with students from all grade levels, experience what students are learning in Georgetown ISD through visual showcases and performances, presentations, and enjoy small bites throughout the event.
Dr. Brent will share his state of the district address which will highlight advancements in teaching and learning and a map for the future.
Tickets are free but registration is encouraged.
GHS Theatre Presents Kiss Me, Kate Jan. 27-29
GHS Theater is bringing their production of the musical Kiss Me, Kate to you this weekend! Showtimes are as follows:
Friday, Jan. 27 - 7 PM
Saturday, Jan. 28 - 7 PM
Sunday, Jan. 29 - 2 PM
Performances will be held at the Klett Performing Arts Center.

East View Theater Presents Little Shop of Horrors Feb. 2-4
EVHS theater has been working to bring you a funny and thrilling musical! Don’t miss this performance of the Hollywood and Broadway classic, Little Shop of Horrors.
Showtimes are as follows:
Thursday, Feb. 2 - 7 PM
Friday, Feb. 3 - 7 PM
Saturday, Feb. 4 - 2 PM and 7 PM
All performances will take place at the East View High School theater.

Adult ESL Classes
There is some space available in our adult ESL (English as a Second Language) classes at Wagner Middle School. The classes are Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8:00 PM.

Parent Learning Community Event Feb. 9
Join us on February 9 for a Parent Learning Community event! Sessions begin at 6 pm and will cover:

Backpack Buddies - Learn how the community provides food for our students and how to qualify

Dual language - Hear how students learn English and Spanish together in this program

Counseling 101 - Explore the role of the counselor at each school level

Dual Language Info Sessions for Incoming Kinder Students
Parents of English speaking students from any campus who are interested in applying for the Kindergarten Dual Language program are encouraged to attend an info night to learn about the program structure, goals, and application process.
These sessions will be held in conjunction with our Parent Learning Community nights. The first opportunity will be February 9 followed by another on March 9. Please join us at HCLL (507 E University Ave) at 5:30 PM for snacks. Programming will be offered in 30 minute sessions at 6:00 PM, 6:30 PM, and 7:00 PM. We look forward to seeing you!

If your student rides the bus, please help ensure that they are using their school-issued SMART Tag daily. SMART Tags are used to help improve the safety and security of your student and streamline the loading and unloading process each day.

From the City of Georgetown: Scheduled curbside bulky-waste pickup date changing on Feb. 6
Starting Feb. 6, scheduled bulky-waste pickups for Georgetown residents will be your regular trash day, rather than Saturdays. Pickups must be scheduled in advance.
In-city residents get four free, curbside bulky-waste pickups a year to help you dispose of large items that won’t fit into your cart, items like:

Washers/dryers

Refrigerators (additional charges apply)
