STAAR Test Information
State STAAR assessments continue this month. As a reminder, your student's campus will communicate test dates, location and report times. Students who are remote learners and need transportation to their campus for testing can board the bus at the stop closest to their home in the morning. Those students will be returned following the early release schedule for their campus unless they need extra time to complete testing, in which case they will ride the regular release bus. Students can also be picked up by a parent or guardian. Parents should expect a survey from their campus where they can express a need for their students to ride the bus on specific testing days.
From our Community Partners:
From the YMCA: Healthy Kids Day and Global Youth Service Day This Saturday
Join the YMCA for a family-friendly morning learning about the programs offered to children and teens in the Georgetown community. We will celebrate Youth National Day of Service and will have service projects, crafts, fun music, bouncy houses, a fire truck, Georgetown Police Department and so much more.
When: Saturday, May 8
Where: Wolf Ranch Towne Center
Times: 9 a.m.–12 p.m.
From the Georgetown Project and City of Georgetown: Virtual Georgetown Youth Town Hall TODAY at 5 p.m.
Calling all family members with loved ones in Grades 8-12 in Georgetown!
Youth and community leaders with The Georgetown Project and City of Georgetown are having a virtual town hall just to hear from the young minds in town, and your help is needed to spread the word!
Youth panelists will lead an interactive discussion with their peers about topics they said are important to them: COVID-19, equity and other challenges they’re facing, and how to have a voice and serve in our community. The town hall will be TODAY, Thursday, May 6, from 5 to 6 p.m. via Zoom.
A survey will launch during the town hall to collect more feedback. Feedback will be used to develop steps to make sure younger residents get the information, support, and opportunities they want, so their voice and perspectives can help shape Georgetown into a community we’re all proud to call home.
