Meals are Free for Students During 2021-22 School Year
Georgetown ISD has again elected to extend the "Seamless Summer Option" into the 2021-22 school year to provide meals to students for free regardless of their qualifications.
The opportunity comes as a result of the district’s application for a waiver through the Texas Department of Agriculture to extend its Summer Meal Program, or “Seamless Summer Option.”
Families do not need to do anything to take advantage of this program. Breakfast and lunch will be available to any enrolled GISD student daily during regular school days, and families can view menus online at georgetownisd.nutrislice.com.
Students will still have choices for a la carte items not offered through the National School Lunch Program, and parents can continue to fund meal accounts in Skyward for those extra items.
Additionally, we are encouraging families to consider completing the free and reduced lunch application. While that may sound redundant, the application is used for so much more than "just lunch". Qualified families may receive federal P-EBT food benefits, discounts or waived fees for SAT testing and college applications, discounts for gear associated with participation in athletics and fine arts, support from our partners including Blue and Brown Santa, and so much more. Additionally, school districts qualify for federal funding based on this application.

GISD Board Calls for November Bond Election
The Georgetown ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved an order calling for a $381,670,000 million bond election to be held on November 2. The bond addresses district growth, aging facilities, technology, fine arts, and athletics.
The proposed projects will be presented to voters in five separate propositions on the ballot in compliance with a new state law. Read more on our website.
Feedback Survey: Identify Areas of Need for Students
In preparation for Georgetown ISD's use of Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER III) federal funding, we would like your input in identifying areas of need related to addressing the impact of COVID-19 on our elementary and secondary schools. Please take a few minutes and fill out the survey to provide feedback. Encuesta completa en español.

SAT Opportunities for Seniors
Now is a good time for seniors to consider signing up for the SAT. And if you've already taken it, retaking the SAT in August or in the fall of your senior year is likely to boost your scores (and open more college admissions opportunities). Testing in August will ensure that you have your scores back in time to meet deadlines for early admission.
To get ready for test day, consider using the Official SAT Practice on Khan Academy®. Through this free, personalized practice plan, you can prepare for the SAT with ease and focus on the areas you need to improve the most.

From the City of Georgetown: Let the City of Georgetown know what you think of the preliminary FY2022 budget
The $483 million City of Georgetown budget affects every resident in our City. How the City allocates your taxpayer dollars determines the level of service you get in return for City functions, like providing electricity, drinking water, drivable streets, and clean parks.
Major themes of the preliminary budget are investing in transportation and utility infrastructure, public safety, and customer services, as well as providing the staffing, equipment, and software needed to respond to record-setting growth and development.
Find more information on important budget dates and share feedback with the city through Sept. 5 at finance.georgetown.org
From the City of Georgetown: GoGeo fixed-route services to end Oct. 1
The GoGeo fixed-route bus service in Georgetown will end Oct. 1, 2021. The paratransit service for residents with disabilities is expected to continue, as is and uninterrupted. Eligibility and screening for paratransit services is provided, through a paper application, by the Capital Area Rural Transportation System.
If you have questions, comments, or concerns about this change to our services, please contact Will Parrish, City of Georgetown transportation planning coordinator, at will.parrish@georgetown.org or 512-930-6597.
