From GPD: 6th annual Junior Police Academy (JPA)
This summer, the Georgetown Police Department will be hosting the 6th annual Junior Police Academy (JPA). The JPA is a camp designed to strengthen the connection between law enforcement and local youth, giving them a chance to see what it’s like to become a cadet police officer over their summer vacation.
This FREE camp is modeled after the police academies that adults attend to become sworn peace officers. Our academy is geared to accommodate Georgetown students, ages 8 to 12 years old. Junior Cadets will be introduced to physical training such as: competing in an obstacle course, self-defense tactics, hand-cuffing, marching, and rappelling. Cadets also get a first-hand look inside equipment such as Patrol and SWAT vehicles, a fire truck, and possibly a police helicopter. At the end of the academy, students will participate in a graduation ceremony that acknowledges their endurance and hard work.
Camp Dates:
June 8-11 (ages 8-10)
June 15-18 (ages 10-12)
June 29-July 2 (ages 8-10)
July 13-16 (ages 10-12)
July 20-23 (ages 10-12)
July 27-30 (ages 8-10)
The camp is conducted from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Georgetown Public Safety Operations & Training Center, located at 3500 DB Wood Rd., Georgetown, Texas 78628.
Please complete the Application, Medical Information sheet, Parental Code of Conduct, Acknowledgement & Media Release, and the Liability Waiver for each child attending. Forms must be filled out in their entirety. A link has been created on the Georgetown Police website where you can access the application packet on February 3.
