Join us for a Discussion on True Accountability
Several years ago, we embarked on an exciting journey with the Texas Public Accountability Consortium (TPAC) to reimagine what accountability looks like for public schools. Now, we are ready to take the next steps toward True Accountability and invite you to participate in this process.
Join us for a community summit to review our work, which has been driven by our strategic plan, and discuss the pursuit of a deeper level of accountability. One that walks beside the State accountability system and takes a deeper look into the work we are doing. One that takes into account the hopes and dreams we have for our students.
The summits are being offered on two dates:
- Thursday, Feb. 27
- Monday, March 2
At 6 pm at the Hammerlun Center for Leadership & Learning
Visit our website for details and to RSVP. Light snacks will be provided at these events. We hope you’ll join us as we take the next step in empowering every learner to Lead, Grow and Serve.
AP Art Exhibit at City Hall
If you haven't had a chance to check out the new art exhibition at the Georgetown City Hall Gallery, we encourage you to visit. The artwork on display is by Georgetown Independent School District AP Art students. The artwork will be exhibited through March.

Local non-profit invites middle school students to enter storytelling contest - deadline March 6
Middle school students are invited to participate in the 2nd Annual San Gabriel Writers' League competition. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three contestants. All writers must turn in a completed registration form and submit an original story in a Word or Google document.
Important documents and more information are linked below:
Poster Submissions must be emailed by 5:00 PM on March 6, 2020, to kearneyj@georgetownisd.org. Jen Kearney will send all entries to the San Gabriel Writers' League. Students are encouraged to work with their ELAR teacher to submit a fully edited, polished piece of writing.
Students can use their writer's notebook and/or portfolio to determine which piece of writing they would like to use for the competition. Last year's competition awarded three students from GISD for their work. https://sangabrielwriters.com/writing-contest-winners/.
Financial Transparency Online
Georgetown ISD provides budget and financial information online as part of the Texas Comptroller's financial transparency initiative. Annual financial reports are posted along with budget summaries and information on the tax rate. Please note that check registers were removed from our site in December 2019, following a recommendation from the Texas Association of School Business Officials after several financial scams were discovered targeting area school districts. This move is an effort to prevent fraud or criminal access to information. From Our Community Partners:
