Bridges Open House on October 18 showcases student work

The Bridges program will host an Open House event on Friday, October 18 from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. at 1200 W. 17th Street. Guests will be treated to coffee and refreshments in the cafe, can browse hand-made crafts at a pop-up boutique and witness demonstrations by students in partnership with their job coaches and employers.

The Bridges program is a transitional program for adult students with special needs, ages 18-22, where they learn life and job skills to prepare them for a more independent adult life.

This is a come-and-go event.

GISD Financial Aid Workshop for Seniors & Parents

(Translation will be available at this workshop. Traduccion sera disponible en este taller.)

GISD seniors and their parents are invited to attend our FREE Financial Aid Workshop on October 19 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at East View High School in Room 501. Financial aid specialists from ACC and Southwestern University will be available to guide parents and students through the requirements of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which is required for any student applying for grants (not required to be paid back), loans, or scholarships for colleges or technical schools. The FAFSA application opened on October 1, so don't miss your chance for guidance and assistance. The workshop is structured as a come and go event (you need not stay the entire duration), and parents should bring all required documents if you would like assistance in filling out the application. For more information about what is needed, visit the Federal Student Aid website.

EVHS Theater to present Peter and the Starcatcher

East View HS Theater program will present Peter and the Starcatcher on October 24-26 at the East View Theater, nightly at 7 p.m. The play provides a backstory for the characters of Peter Pan, Mrs Darling, Tinker Bell and Hook, and serves as a prequel to J. M. Barrie's Peter and Wendy. Purchase tickets online in advance at or at the door.
