New ParentU Resources are Now Available
Georgetown ISD's ParentU supports GISD parents with resources, information and opportunities that will foster collaboration and equip families so that, together, we can meet the needs of our students. We are excited to share three resources as we get back in the groove of a new school year. We hope you find these resources helpful!
This fall at school, your child is learning about a strategy called the "Yes Brain/Mood Meter". This tool aims to support optional student emotional states -- where learning occurs best!
Want to learn more so that you can use this tool at home? Georgetown ISD PTA is hosting an informational event featuring special guests, the GISD School-Based Therapy team, on 9/16 at Tippit Middle School.
Ready Rosie is a simple tool that allows you to hear what PK students are doing in the classroom and discover activities and games you can play that relate to classroom learning, all while having more fun than ever with your child through meaningful interactions. The best part is that each activity/ game is modeled in a two-minute video so you and your child can watch it together and then play the game! Sign up to receive these videos and communication via text message and/ or email.

Chromebook Care & Responsible Use Video Lesson for Students
As we begin our first full school year issuing every GISD student a mobile device for learning, the GISD Digital Learning team created a video lesson to help students understand how to care for their device and use it responsibly. Every K-12 student will watch this 11-minute video, which features GISD student actors, during the first few weeks of school. The video can be accessed through your student's ClassLink account or on our Digital Learning YouTube Channel for viewing at home.
Empowering Youth: Body Safety Parent Education Night
Williamson County Child Advocacy Center (WCCAC) is excited to partner with Georgetown ISD in empowering students to stay safer online and offline. WCCAC will provide body safety lessons called “Play It Safe” to all elementary students. This safety program is developmentally appropriate and educates students on how to identify situations that may be unsafe, or confusing to their body or others. Please join us for a caregiver presentation to learn about the student safety program your elementary child(ren) will participate in this year on Tuesday, September 14th, 6:30 p.m.- 7:30 p.m., at Hammerlun Center for Leadership and Learning.
Find our Back to School Plan and Covid-19 On our Website
Our Back to School Plan and all Covid-19 information is available on our website. The Back to School Plan covers Safety and Health Protocols, Student Resources for navigating the start of the school year, and much more. You can also find Covid Updates and FAQ’s under our COVID-19 tab.
Meals are Free for Students During 2021-22 School Year
Georgetown ISD has again elected to extend the "Seamless Summer Option" into the 2021-22 school year to provide meals to students for free regardless of their qualifications.
The opportunity comes as a result of the district’s application for a waiver through the Texas Department of Agriculture to extend its Summer Meal Program, or “Seamless Summer Option.”
Families do not need to do anything to take advantage of this program. Breakfast and lunch will be available to any enrolled GISD student daily during regular school days, and families can view menus online at georgetownisd.nutrislice.com.
Students will still have choices for a la carte items not offered through the National School Lunch Program, and parents can continue to fund meal accounts in Skyward for those extra items.
Additionally, we are encouraging families to consider completing the free and reduced lunch application. While that may sound redundant, the application is used for so much more than "just lunch". Qualified families may receive federal P-EBT food benefits, discounts or waived fees for SAT testing and college applications, discounts for gear associated with participation in athletics and fine arts, support from our partners including Blue and Brown Santa, and so much more. Additionally, school districts qualify for federal funding based on this application.

Middle School - Sign up for the After School Program
It is time to register for after-school programs for middle school students! There are many exciting opportunities for middle school students to Think - Make - Do after school. Classes include but are not limited to cooking, homework help, robotics, canoeing, fishing, art, science, babysitters certification and more... Sign up today at www.georgetownisd.org/asap.
Feedback Survey: Identify Areas of Need for Students
In preparation for Georgetown ISD's use of Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER III) federal funding, we would like your input in identifying areas of need related to addressing the impact of COVID-19 on our elementary and secondary schools. Please take a few minutes and fill out the survey to provide feedback. Encuesta completa en español.
