The Georgetown Independent School District announced that David Rainey has been named the Director of Guidance and Wellness.
An educator with more than 17 years of experience, Rainey began his career as a teacher and coach in Austin ISD and later taught in Fort Bend ISD. In 2004, Rainey began teaching and coaching at Canyon Ridge Middle School in Leander ISD, and since 2007, has served as a professional school counselor at that campus.
Rainey holds a master’s degree in counseling and guidance from Texas State University in San Marcos and bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Texas at Austin.
As director, Rainey will oversee the development and implementation of a balanced, comprehensive developmental counseling program that includes guidance curriculum and responsive services for students. Additionally, Rainey will ensure that GISD provides a sound wellness program that meets the health needs of students and staff.
