Student Artwork Featured in GISD Virtual Art Exhibit
To celebrate the outstanding work created by Georgetown ISD fine arts students during the school year, the GISD fine arts department is proud to invite the community to its 2020-21 virtual art show, in partnership with the Georgetown Public Library.
The show will celebrate the outstanding work created by GISD fine arts students over the course of the 2020-21 school year. The featured work will include state and national award-winning work in a variety of mediums: drawing, painting, 3D, ceramic, sculpture, photography and digital artwork.
Online exhibits will be available on the GISD and campus websites, and each exhibit will offer an opportunity for audiences to submit virtual notes of praise and encouragement for students and teachers.
Register Today for our Senior Financial Aid Workshop
Need help exploring financial aid options for post-secondary plans? Seniors and parents of seniors are invited to attend our financial aid workshop Saturday, April 10 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. at Georgetown High School. During the event, students and parents will receive one-on-one help with FAFSA/TASFA completion and scholarship applications.
In order to meet the needs of all participants, please register here for this event.
STAAR Test Information for Fourth and Seventh Grade Students
State Assessments for STAAR 4th and 7th grade writing, English I and English II EOC begin in April. Your student's campus will communicate test dates, location, and report times. Students who are remote learners and need transportation to their campus for testing can board the bus at the stop closest to their home in the morning. Those students will be returned following the early release schedule for their campus unless they need extra time to complete testing, in which case they will ride the regular release bus. Students can also be picked up by a parent or guardian. Parents should expect a survey from their campus where they can express a need for their students to ride the bus on specific testing days.
Congressional Art Show Submissions Open Through April 21
Submissions are now being accepted for this year’s Congressional Art Competition. Due to COVID protocols, the show is only accepting online submissions this year. The deadline to submit entries is Wednesday, April 21 at 5 p.m. More information is available on Congressman Carter’s website here.

From the City of Georgetown: Information about the Georgetown Mobility Bond on the May 1 Ballot
A mobility bond will be on the May 1, 2021, ballot for Georgetown. Voters will consider Proposition A totaling $90M to fund various street and transportation infrastructure projects.
If voters approve the proposition, the City anticipates raising the property tax rate by 3 cents once the bonds are issued to cover the full $120M cost for the projects. This includes completing work on related projects voters approved in the 2008 and 2015 bonds.
Learn more about the proposed projects on the City of Georgetown website.
