GISD Needs Your Help- Sub For Us!

While our sub fill rate continues to be above many area districts, we still don’t have enough to always cover classes. We need your help to fill this gap!

We believe that community engagement enhances student experiences and are looking for individuals who want to serve in our schools and make a difference in the lives of kids.  Substitute teachers provide an essential role in our schools by filling in for our classroom teachers who are out of the classroom for training or other leave.

With rates starting at $95/day, substitutes benefit from flexible schedules, competitive pay and a priceless experience.

Visit our website at www.georgetownisd.org/subforus for more information.

SEL Academy: Call for Parent Stories

We are seeking stories from GISD parents and guardians to foster more meaningful connections between our staff and the families of our students. These stories can feature challenge, triumph, or seek to educate GISD staff about what parents and guardians wish schools knew.

If a story is selected, a staff member will reach out to schedule a convenient time and place to capture the story on audio. Stories only need to be 1 to 5 minutes in length, and guardians may remain anonymous if they wish.

The following are just a few ideas we’re seeking:

On January 12, 2022, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, hosted by the Georgetown ISD Parent U and GISD PTAs, will provide a live, VIRTUAL presentation that will empower attendees with the skills to not only identify the warning signs of children engaged in risky online behavior but also how to discuss appropriate online behavior with children.

Topics will include online safety trends, inappropriate content, online privacy, sexting, grooming, and cyberbullying.

Due to the sensitive nature of this presentation, children of any age are not permitted to attend.

You Might Qualify for Federal Benefits

What’s known as the “Federal Free and Reduced Lunch Application” is really about so much more than lunch. Your child is already benefiting from the free meals GISD is able to provide this school year, and some of you may have even considered that because meals are free, there’s no reason to complete the form. However, there are so many benefits beyond school lunch.

Applications also help determine the amount our schools receive in federal funding.  This money is used in a number of ways including learning programs like STEM and Literacy nights and other educational programming.

And your family can qualify for added benefits for your household, including P-EBT benefits established during COVID, but only if you complete the application.

Please consider completing the form today and helping to secure funds for our schools next year.
