2022 GISD Graduation Ceremonies and Parade
We are excited to announce that graduation this year will be held at Birkelbach Field for the third year in a row. GISD will also celebrate the class of 2022 with a community parade.

Special Programs Event Tonight: "Why Does My Kid Freak Out Over Small Problems?"
Join Special Programs for an event "Why Does My Kid Freak Out Over Small Problems?".
The event will take place at Hammerlun on Thursday, May 5 from 6:30 PM - 8 PM.
(Please park behind the buildings in the large parking lot)
Attendees will receive insight and tips for how to coach with compassion.
There will be snacks and an activity area for students who come with their parents.
Spanish Interpreters will be available at each session.
Bridges Reverse Job Fair
GISD Bridges will host their Reverse Job Fair on May 10 from 9:45 am - 11:30 am. Come stop by Hammerlun, Building 2 and spend some time with our Bridges students.
Students will share what they learned in the transitional program, how it has helped them grow, and will highlight their skills that are helping them find meaningful engagement in the community.
No RSVP is needed.
Fine Arts Signing Day Next TuesdayJoin us as we celebrate students of the class of 2022 that will continue their education in arts after graduation!
The 2021-2022 Fine Arts Signing Day event will be held at Hammerlun on May 10 from 5 to 6:30 PM.

EVHS Theater Presents The Sweet Science of Bruising and The Rumpus in the Rainforest
The Rumpus in the Rainforest will be performed by EVHS senior students especially for elementary school students and their parents. However, all ages are welcome to attend this show.
The Rumpus in the Rainforest performances are as follows:
Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 1:00 pm AND 2:00 pm
The Sweet Science of Bruising performances are as follows:
Thursday, May 19, 2022 at 7:00 pm
Friday, May 20, 2022 at 7:00 pm
Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 7:00 pm

2022-23 Athletic Physicals
An annual physical dated after May 1, 2022 is required to participate in athletics in the 2022-23 school year. The physicals are offered to all incoming GHS, Benold, and Forbes students participating in athletics, fine arts, ROTC, and HOSA grades 7-12. The physicals will take place at Georgetown High School on Tuesday, May 17 beginning promptly at 4:30pm.
Pre-registration is required. The registration deadline is May 13. To find more information and register for your physical, visit this form.
GISD Elementary Library STEM Camp
Come join your elementary school librarians for a fun week of STEM activities! Camps are open to any GISD student in grades 2-5 for the 2022-23 school year. The camps will be held at Williams Elementary June 13-16 and Wolf Ranch Elementary June 20-23. Both camps will take place 9-11:30 AM every day.
Each camp session is limited to 50 students from any campus.

Join the Boys & Girls Club of Georgetown and the Georgetown Family YMCA for a day of fun, rock climbing, bouncing and fellowship. Kick off the summer season with the 1st Fun Run on May 17 at 1100 Thousand Oaks Blvd. Georgetown, TX.
Race registration is now open. Adults are $20 and kids are $5.

From the Lifesteps Council in Partnership with ACE: Last Session of Parent Summit Series
The Afterschool Centers on Education (ACE) is partnering with Lifesteps council to bring a 3-part series workshop to parents and community members.
The summit series is designed to educate parents of middle and high school students on the dangers of substance use and provide parenting tools through three sessions. There is one session remaining to attend:
May 18 - Session 3: A Recipe for Success (Legal and Social Impacts, Goal Setting and Resources)
All sessions will be 7 - 8 pm via zoom.

City of Georgetown hosts summer employee hiring event May 13
The City of Georgetown is facing a lifeguard shortage that may lead to operational changes at the public swimming pools. The Parks and Recreation Department needs to hire 40 additional lifeguards to fully operate the pools this summer.
The City will be hosting a hiring event from 4-6 p.m. May 13 at the Georgetown Recreation Center, 1003 N. Austin Ave. The event will feature free food, drinks, and prizes, as well as on-site application and hiring opportunities.
Lifeguard pay ranges from $10.50-16.50 an hour depending on position and experience.
The department is also hiring swim instructors, camp counselors, childcare and recreation aides, and an adventure camp specialist.
Summer jobs like these are great opportunities for teenagers, college students, and anyone looking for a fun way to earn extra money.
