Local organizations provide $233,575 in scholarships for GISD students
Paying for higher education just got a little easier for 87 Georgetown ISD seniors thanks to the giving spirit of the Georgetown community. These seniors collectively earned $233,575 in scholarships funded through local businesses and organizations.
“We are very thankful that so many in our community are committed to supporting the future success of our students,” GISD Superintendent Fred Brent said. “A core belief of the district is that community engagement enhances educational experiences, and one way this belief comes to life is through the overwhelming generosity of the businesses and organizations that provide these scholarships for our graduating seniors.”
Local scholarships were awarded to seniors from all three high schools at a district-wide celebration held on May 17.
33 East View High School students received $81,675 in local scholarships. 50 Georgetown High School students received $119,000 in local scholarships. 4 students from Richarte High School received $32,900 in local scholarships.
