GISD Future Readiness Fair Sept. 24
The first GISD Future Readiness Fair is scheduled to take place on September 24th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at East View High School. All GISD high school students and their parents are encouraged to attend to learn more about college, career, and military options. The fair will feature a multitude of college, career, and military representatives, and there will be mini-seminar sessions available for students and their parents to learn more about career paths, college admissions, and military service from guest presenters. Contact your high school College, Career, and Military Readiness Specialist for more information.
Changes are coming to Advanced Placement (AP) Courses
The College Board is changing how Advanced Placement (AP) courses and AP exams will be offered for the 2019-20 school year. These changes impact when Georgetown ISD students will register and pay for AP exams. Students will now register for AP Exams in the fall. Other changes include new online resources for students and teachers and updated exam costs. Visit the website for more information on GISD Advanced Placement program. Still have questions? Submit a Let’s Talk dialogue. Click on Advanced Placement and someone will reach out to help answer your questions.
Volunteers and Mentors
GISD is always in need of volunteers and mentors! The volunteer program is a great way to get involved with a variety of programs within GISD. The mentor program provides an opportunity for community members to meet one-on-one with a student once a week during the lunch hour. If you are a current volunteer or mentor, GISD is now running background checks automatically, which means you will not need to reapply this year. When you are approved or if more information is needed, you will receive an email notifying you of your background check status. If you are interested in becoming a new volunteer or mentor, please fill out an application today.
2019-2020 UIL Eligibility Calendar
Please be aware that the 2019-2020 UIL Eligibility Calendar and requirements can be found on our website. For more information, please contact our athletics department.
From The GISD Education Foundation
The Georgetown ISD Education Foundation will host 50 Fellas Foodfest on October 26 at Reunion Ranch. As the primary fundraiser for the Georgetown Education Foundation, this event will showcase cook teams from our community serving their best dishes. Attendees will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite item in appetizer, entrée, dessert, and fan-favorite categories.
Live music, silent auction items, and great food will highlight the event. Cook team registration, sponsorship information, individual ticket purchase and more information can be found at www.fiftyfellas.com.
From The Caring Place
The Caring Place would like to invite all members of its service area to participate in the Jackets 4 Georgetown program. Jacket, gloves, and hat donations can be made in the donations drive-through at The Caring Place located at 2000 Railroad Avenue, Monday-Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m from September 23 to October 12.
