It’s Almost Here! GISD will be open Monday for Solar Eclipse with Campus Activities to Celebrate

On Monday, April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse will be visible in North America for the first time since 2017. The eclipse can be seen in Williamson County between 12:18 p.m. to 2:58 p.m. with maximum totality at 1:37 p.m.  The next solar eclipse will not be visible in the contiguous U.S. until 2044 according to NASA.

Georgetown ISD will operate on a normal schedule on April 8 with learning activities planned for all students and staff. Activities vary by campus. Look for more information from your child's campus.

Visit www.georgetownisd.org/solareclipse for more information.

Join us for a Spring Bus Tour - This Saturday, April 6 or April 13

GISD will host two more bus tours this spring, designed to invite community members to see where the district is growing and how we're accommodating for that growth.

Guests on the tour will visit both new and old campuses, see where future schools could be constructed, and learn more about programs, enrollment and the future of GISD.

Tour Dates and Times:

April 6, 9-11 am

April 13, 9-11 am

Click on a tour date above to register and secure your spot on the bus!

Please note that each tour will be capped at 30 people. Registration is required for each guest.

Snacks will be provided and the tour will include several stops for campus visits and restroom breaks.

Join us for a Parent Learning Community Fair this Saturday

GISD Special and Federal Programs will host their last Parent Learning Community Fair on Saturday, April 6 from 10am-Noon. This event is open to all parents. It’s FREE and fun for the whole family!

Games, activities, and entertainment will be provided at the fair while families can get information from multiple community organizations. Connect with medical and mental health agencies, hear about supports available to students with disabilities transitioning from school to work/life, learn about summer programs available in our community, and more!

See this flyer for more info.

Learn more about what’s proposed in the 2024 GISD Bond

The Georgetown ISD Board of Trustees approved an order calling for a $649,510,000 bond election to be held on May 4. The bond addresses district growth, aging facilities, technology, fine arts and athletics. The proposed projects will be presented to voters in four separate propositions on the ballot in compliance with state law.

Join Superintendent Devin Padavil during a community meeting to learn more about the projects:

  • April 9 at East View High School, 6 pm

  • April 17 at Village Elementary School, 6 pm

GISD Kinder Dual Language Parent Info Sessions

The GISD dual language team will host parent information sessions for parents of incoming Kinder students who are interested in applying to participate in the Spanish dual language program. There will be two virtual sessions April 10 and May 7 from 9-10am. Two more in-person sessions will also be held:

From Our Partners:

From The Georgetown Palace Education Dept: Theatre for Young Audiences at the Georgetown Palace

The Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) program offers affordable, age-appropriate field trip opportunities exposing students to the magic of live theatre. Educators will value these shows for the classroom extension possibilities. The TEKS-aligned classroom materials available upon request will incorporate a broad range of interdisciplinary learning opportunities for students.

The Saturday public performances of TYA shows provide an opportunity for our patrons with younger children to see a lively and engaging show that is age-appropriate and shorter in the length (45 minute runtime).

Visit www.georgetownpalace.com/theatre-for-young-audiences/ for more information.

From Williamson County Justice of the Peace, Pct 3: Youth Job Fair April 9
