In Case You Missed It: Great News in GISD Schools!
The board approved new attendance zones during Tuesday’s meeting for the new Williams and Wolf Ranch elementary schools. These new zones will also help relieve capacity issues in the current Carver and Mitchell elementary school zones. Additionally, the attendance zone for Wagner Middle School was adjusted slightly. Other campus attendance zones were not impacted.
Summary of the changes:
Students in The Pinnacle neighborhood will be rezoned from Carver to the new Williams Elementary Mayfield Ranch will be rezoned from Carver to Wolf Ranch Elementary Fairhaven is zoned to Williams Elementary School Pickett Elementary moves to Wolf Ranch Elementary School
Other notable impacts of the new zones:
We will have the capacity for current 4th graders to remain at their campus in the coming school year. However, transportation will not be provided We do not have the capacity to grandfather those 4th-grade siblings. We are still working on the impact to special programs and will be communicating those updates via campuses.
More information is available on our website: www.georgetownisd.org/rezoning.
Impacted families will receive detailed communications soon including information on special programs and grandfather requests.
Until then, if you have questions, we encourage you to connect via Let’s Talk. Click on “Attendance Zones” and we’ll respond promptly.

Approving the calendar for two years should allow for better planning within the district and or our community partners and GISD families.
Drafts of the calendars are available on our website at www.georgetownisd.org/calendar.

From Our Community Partners:
From the Georgetown Complete Count Committee: 2020 Census Coming Soon
Look for a mailing from the U.S. Census Bureau in March and respond to the survey online, by phone, or by mail. The 2020 Census marks the first time you will have the option to respond online. Everyone living in the U.S. is required by law to be counted in the 2020 Census.
You will be asked a few simple questions, like age, gender, and the number of people who live in your home, including children. Your personal information is confidential and cannot be shared with anyone, including any government agencies or law enforcement. The Census will never ask you for your social security number, money or donations, or credit card numbers.
Census data are used to adjust electoral districts and shape how federal money is spent for roads, schools, health clinics, student loans, housing, and fire departments.
