Weekly Update from Mrs. Baldwin

Note from admin: Happy April!! We are in the homestretch of the school year, and I'm so proud at the amount of growth, learning, and dedication I've seen throughout a year that's been tough for so many reasons. Thank you for living the Learner Profile and exhibiting these skills daily. We will continue with end of year assessments this week completing MAP testing for all students in areas of reading and math. This is the same assessment that is used at both the beginning and middle of the year. It is just one quick snapshot to see how students have grown in their skills, and gives both teachers and students information as to what they should target next.

Please be sure to fill out returning student registration and encourage new families in the neighborhood to enroll their children at Purl! Brenda & Nancy are available to help with registration, just call to make an appointment. We have a couple of parent informational nights coming up so that you and your Puma can see what learning looks like for the upcoming grade level and hear more about dual language. Be on the lookout for more information with dates and details in an upcoming weekly update!

Returning Student Registration: The window is now open to register for next school year!! Please take the time to fill out and submit the returning student registration online. We cannot begin planning for next school year or assign a teacher until this is completed by all parents. Follow this link about student enrollment for more informaiton. It's hard to believe, but YES we're already making plans for 21-22! If you'd like to set up an appointment for assistance in registering your returning Puma OR you have a NEW student coming to us, please reach out to Brenda and Nancy!

Assistant Principal Appreciation Week: This week we're celebrating Mrs. Davila and Mrs. Lugo for serving as amazing APs at Annie Purl! Reach out to them with a quick thank you for their dedication, organization, communication, leadership, and service. These ladies serve with all their heart and always put students first. ho

Librarian Appreciation Day: Mrs. Simpson does a PHENOMENAL job in the library!! She build relationships with all students, ignites a love of reading, teaches technology applications, and is such a resource to our teachers. Tuesday is Librarian Appreciation Day, so reach out to Ms. Simpson with a thank you :)

STAAR Letter: Parents and families of Pumas in 3rd, 4th, or 5th grades, please read this information regarding our state assessments and how to best prepare our students

Purl Fun Day: Our coaches are planning a COVID-safe field day on May 21st for all Purl Pumas. It will be a fun day and a great way to show team spirit! Please order your fun day t-shirts now through April 28th to assure your Puma is ready. If you'd like to make a donation for another Puma in need to get a t-shirt, follow the same process and put the first name as "Donation" and the last name as "Purl" when ordering. The coaches also have a tutorial video to help you ordering online. Thanks in advance for your support!

Talent Show: Mrs. Heath is coordinating a talent show! 3rd, 4th, & 5th graders are invited to tryout and show us their talent!! Details and permissions slips can be found here in English & Spanish.

20-21 Virtual Art Exhibit: To celebrate the outstanding work created by GISD Fine Arts students during the school year, GISD has launched a virtual art exhibit in partnership with the Georgetown Public Library. While we were unable to hold our traditional in-person art exhibit at the Georgetown Public Library, we hope this year's virtual art show will allow more families and community members to join us in our annual celebration. Check out work by the Purl Pumas here!

Family Involvement Specialists: We want to hear from you! Please take the time to give your feedback and fill out this survey so we can better serve your needs.

Georgetown ISD's ParentU exists because we believe that partnerships between our school district and our students' families enhance the educational experiences of the students we serve. It's our desire to support GISD parents with resources, information and opportunities that will foster collaboration and equip families so that, together, we can meet the needs of the students of Georgetown, Texas.

We hope you’ll visit ParentU often -- whether it’s to use resources we have shared on the site, learn about opportunities for parents in our community, or to suggest content you’d like to get more information about! We’ll be regularly adding new information and resources!
