Weekly Update from Mrs. Baldwin

Note from admin: Can you believe there are only 5 days left in this school year?! Teachers have done a great job of communicating with parents and be sure to check your emails. Lots of info has been sent home via teacher communication around summer learning opportunities, graduations and completion ceremonies, and other fun activities. Summer learning opportunities are by invite only due to number of spots allotted to each campus. If you have questions about what is being offered this summer check out the "Summer Programs" webpage on GISD's site or ask your student's teacher.

Summer communication will not come as often - parents will receive pertinent info and reminders at least once a month. Stay connected via our website and on social media. The district is doing a fantastic job of keeping the website up to date with resources, and aligning our webpages to make things easier to find.

Purl Fun Day - THANK YOU: Our kids loved FUN day and we were able to stay safe. Luckily the weather cooperated too :) Special thank you to our coaches, teachers, staff, and parent volunteers!! We couldn't have had a successful day without all the adults working together to make it a great day for kids.

Returning Student Registration: The window is now open to register for next school year!! Please take the time to fill out and submit the returning student registration online. We cannot begin planning for next school year or assign a teacher until this is completed by all parents. Follow this link about student enrollment for more informaiton. It's hard to believe, but YES we're already making plans for 21-22! If you'd like to set up an appointment for assistance in registering your returning Puma OR you have a NEW student coming to us, please reach out to Brenda and Nancy!

Class Requests: We are starting to group students for next year, and teachers are heavily involved in the process keeping students' needs in mind. Emailing teacher requests to administration does not automatically mean placement in that teacher's classroom. Staffing can change over the summer and a well-balanced community within each class is the goal. Parents, instead of a teacher request, please email with qualities needed in a teacher for a successful year, student interests/strengths, and the needs of your student. This will help us make the best decision we can and give us insight to serving your student. Make sure to fill out the returning student registration in Skyward to ensure your student is assigned a teacher for the 21-22 school year.

Uniendo Familias - Please give our family involvement specialists feedback by filling out the end of year parent survey. We look forward to hearing from you what you'd like to learn and receive support for next school year!

Georgetown ISD's ParentU exists because we believe that partnerships between our school district and our students' families enhance the educational experiences of the students we serve. It's our desire to support GISD parents with resources, information and opportunities that will foster collaboration and equip families so that, together, we can meet the needs of the students of Georgetown, Texas.

We hope you’ll visit ParentU often -- whether it’s to use resources we have shared on the site, learn about opportunities for parents in our community, or to suggest content you’d like to get more information about! We’ll be regularly adding new information and resources!
