2022 Congressional Art Competition: “Treasures of Central Texas” - Submission deadline Tomorrow
On behalf of Congressman Carter, we are pleased to once again announce this year’s Congressional Art Competition. This year’s theme is “Treasures of Central Texas”
The due date for artwork to be submitted is Friday, April 22 @ 5 pm.
Students should sign and print their release forms and attach them to the back of their artwork.

GISD Hosts High School Job Fair April 26 and 28
Georgetown ISD will host two Job Fairs for high school students:
East View High School on April 26
Georgetown High School on April 28. Richarte HS students will attend the fair at GHS due to space limitations at RHS.
Both events will take place during lunch from 11 am -1:30 pm.
The goal of this event is to connect local businesses with students for the purpose of creating future employment opportunities. Students that attend will have the chance to speak with businesses about summer job openings and future career paths at their place of employment.
East View High School Choir Presents: Finale!
EVHS Choir has been rehearsing diligently to present to you their annual performance FINALE! at the East View High School Theater on following dates and times:
- Friday, April 29 at 7:00 pm
- Saturday, April 30 at 7:00 pm
- Sunday, May 1 at 3:00 pm

Uniendo Familias Event
Families are invited to a GISD "Uniendo Familias" event to celebrate Children's Day on Saturday, April 30, from 9-11 am at the Hammerlun Building.
There will be lots of fun activities and information to share for families. For more information, please visit our website.
Special Programs Event: "Why Does My Kid Freak Out Over Small Problems?"
Join Special Programs for an event "Why Does My Kid Freak Out Over Small Problems?".
The event will take place at Hammerlun on Thursday, May 5 from 6:30 PM - 8 PM.
(Please park behind the buildings in the large parking lot)
Attendees will receive insight and tips for how to coach with compassion.
There will be snacks and an activity area for students who come with their parents.
Spanish Interpreters will be available at each session.
GISD Elementary Library STEM Camp
Come join your elementary school librarians for a fun week of STEM activities! Camps are open to any GISD student in grades 2-5 for the 2022-23 school year. The camps will be held at Williams Elementary June 13-16 and Wolf Ranch Elementary June 20-23. Both camps will take place 9-11:30 AM every day.
Each camp session is limited to 50 students from any campus.

Fine Arts Signing Day
Join us as we celebrate students of the class of 2022 that will continue their education in arts after graduation!
The 2021-2022 Fine Arts Signing Day event will be held at Hammerlun on May 10 from 5 to 6:30 PM.

From the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts: Emergency Preparation Supplies Tax-free Holiday April 23-25
Natural disasters will continue to happen. Prepare yourself during the 2022 Emergency Preparation Supplies Sales Tax Holiday for emergencies that can cause physical damage like hurricanes, flash floods and wildfires. You can purchase certain emergency preparation supplies tax free during the sales tax holiday. There is no limit on the number of qualifying items you can purchase, and you do not need to give an exemption certificate to claim the exemption.
This year’s holiday begins at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, April 23, and ends at midnight on Monday, April 25.

From Andice Baptist Church: Mission Outreach for Secondary Students April 22-23
Andice Baptist Church and First Baptist Church Florence have planned an awesome weekend for secondary students filled with free food, live music, worship and more!
Join the fun this coming weekend for free haircuts, games, and prizes!

From the City of Georgetown: Red Poppy Festival in Downtown Georgetown Begins Tomorrow
Celebrate the City’s signature event on the most beautiful town square in Texas at the 21st annual Red Poppy Festival. The festival kicks off on Friday night and runs through Sunday with three days of music, entertainment, family fun, and features more than 100 artisan vendors.
The city is offering a variety of options for visitors to get to this year’s Red Poppy Festival. Several free public parking lots are available throughout downtown, as well as shuttle options Saturday.

From the City of Georgetown: Adults with Disabilities Dance on April 29
The City of Georgetown Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a free dance for adults with disabilities from 7 - 9 pm on April 29 at the Georgetown Community Center, 445 E. Morrow St. The theme of the dance is “Enchanted Forest.”
The event is designed for, but not limited to, people ages 18 and older with special needs. A family member and/or caregiver must be present at all times.
A concession stand with snacks and beverages will be available onsite. Items cost $1 to $2 each and are available for purchase with cash only.
Volunteers are needed to help with the concession stand, photo booth and greeting attendees. Sign up is available at parks.georgetown.org/volunteer.
Local organizations and businesses also are welcome to participate in the dance.

From the Lifesteps Council in Partnership with ACE: Last Session of Parent Summit Series
The Afterschool Centers on Education (ACE) is partnering with Lifesteps council to bring a 3-part series workshop to parents and community members.
The summit series is designed to educate parents of middle and high school students on the dangers of substance use and provide parenting tools through three sessions. There is one session remaining to attend:
May 18 - Session 3: A Recipe for Success (Legal and Social Impacts, Goal Setting and Resources)
All sessions will be 7 - 8 pm via zoom.
