Destination…Life Transition Fair & Conference this Saturday

The Destination…Life Regional Transition Fair and Conference helps Central Texas families prepare and support their student(s) with disabilities for life beyond high school. Families can expect to gather information and gain access to experts on how to help their student(s) with disabilities ranging from early childhood through high school to successfully transition to adulthood.

When: Saturday, March 4th 

9:00 am - 1:30 pm 

Where: McNeil High School

5720 McNeil Dr, Austin, TX 78729

Support PE Programs in GISD while Chasing the Chief - This Sunday 


Did you register to support your school during Chase the Chief?


Mark packet pick-up dates on your calendar:

Today and tomorrow from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. at the Georgetown Police Department, 3500 D.B. Wood Road.

 

Packets will include the following:

Chase the Chief T-Shirt - Only participants who registered by the January 31st deadline and chose to receive a shirt on the online form will be able to pick up a 2023 Chase the Chief shirt.

5k and/or Fun Run Race Bibs

2 Safety Pins per Race Bib

 

PLEASE NOTE: Registrations during packet pick up and the event day will be cashless. We will not be able to accept cash during these times.

Proceeds benefit physical education programs in Georgetown schools.

Registration Fees: $10/adult & $5/student. No refunds or transfers.

Parent Learning Community Event March 9 


You are invited to the next Parent Learning Community on Thursday, March 9th from 5:30-7:30 pm at Hammerlun, 507 E. University Ave. Hear information about new/returning student registration and our dual language program, connect with community resources for transportation and health needs, and learn about behavior supports to use at home! 


Food and child care are available starting at 5:30 pm, and 30 minute presentations begin at 6 pm. See the link below for more details, share with your community, and don't forget to RSVP. We hope to see you there!

Dual Language Info Sessions for Incoming Kinder Students - March 9


Parents of English speaking students from any campus who are interested in applying for the Kindergarten Dual Language program are encouraged to attend an info night to learn about the program structure, goals, and application process. 


This session will be held in conjunction with our Parent Learning Community night. The next opportunity will be on March 9. Please join us at HCLL (507 E University Ave) at 5:30 pm for snacks. Programming will be offered in 30 minute sessions at 6 pm, 6:30 pm, and 7 pm.

From the Austin Public Library: HBCU College Fair - March 10

HBCU Battle of the Brains, the National Football League (NFL), and 100 Black Men of Austin will host an HBCU College Fair at the Austin Public Library’s Special Events Center (710 W Cesar Chavez St, Austin, TX 78701) on Friday, March 10, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

This event allows 6th through 12th graders and parents/guardians to learn more about our nation's Historically Black Colleges and Universities. 25+ HBCU representatives and local college admissions leaders will be present to discuss completing the FAFSA form, resume and application needs, essay and interview prep, independent scholarships, and more.

Graduating in 2023? Bring your transcripts, test scores, and resumes for on the spot college acceptances.

This event is open to the public and is FREE for colleges/universities AND attendees.
