Sora - Audiobooks and eBooks for Middle School & High School Students
We are excited to introduce Georgetown ISD’s newest reading platform, Sora! Sora is an app or website where you can access thousands of popular audio and ebooks. These items were purchased by the GISD librarians based on the most popular checkouts at each secondary school. Using Sora, you can earn badges, bookmark your spots, make notes, and define words as you read.
Middle school and high school students can get to Sora through ClassLink or by downloading the Sora app (on Apple or Android devices) and signing in with their GISD login information. Important note: When prompted, search for Georgetown ISD, not your school. Students can check out ebooks and audiobooks for two weeks, and put holds on two more items.
Inside the Sora app, you can sync your public library account to access even more free books! Need to create a Georgetown Public Library account? Call (512) 930-3551 or stop by their building!
Dual Language Information
Previously scheduled Dual Language Parent Info Sessions have been changed to a virtual format in response to school closures due to COVID-19. Parents of English speaking students from any campus who are interested in applying for the Kindergarten Dual Language Programs at Carver, Cooper, Mitchell, Purl, or Village are encouraged to watch the informational video on the Dual Language web page, which will give you an overview of the program and next steps for the application process. Applications are due May 22. District personnel will contact you on or before June 5 to inform you of acceptance into the program or your place on a waitlist along with next steps. Thank you for your interest in the Dual Language program!
If you’re not receiving email communications from the District, you may sign up to receive them at any time.
