Georgetown ISD Health & Wellness Clinic Closed Through December


The GISD health clinic will be temporarily unable to accept patients on-site through the end of the calendar year. However, our partners at Lone Star Circle of Care are still available to see patients at other locations in the area. If you or a family member are in need of medical care during this time, we encourage you to call our clinic phone line at 512-688-6250 to schedule an appointment or visit www.lonestarcares.org

Georgetown High School Football Playoff Game Tomorrow 


Tomorrow night, Georgetown High School will face off against Canyon High School in the Bi-District Playoff Round. Kickoff is at 7:30 PM at Cougar Stadium in New Braunfels. 

Tickets prices are $8 for adults and $4 for students. You can purchase tickets here

Special Programs Parent Learning Community Tonight

Join GISD Special Programs for a Parent Learning Community tonight! The event will take place at the Hammerlun Center for Leadership and Learning from 6 - 7:30 PM. Dinner and childcare will be provided from 5:30 - 6 PM.

Sessions include: Career funding through Capital IDEA & College Hub, Project SEARCH - internships at Seton & Kalahari for young adults with disabilities, and more.

Parent Resource Room Highlights: Shop in the Bridges Boutique, Q&A with an SRO, scholarship information and more.

Spanish interpreters will be available at each session.

Multilingual Webinar Watch Party Tomorrow

Please join our multilingual team to learn about enhancing educational supports for emergent bilingual students. The webinar watch party will be at Hammerlun on November 11 from 9-11 AM.

Georgetown ISD Veterans Day Celebrations Tomorrow

Georgetown ISD is excited to continue its tradition of celebrating Veterans Day this year. Our schools have made plans to fill this special day with parades, performances and more. 

Visit our website for a list of celebrations that are open to the public. We hope you will join us in honoring our military veterans and active service personnel. 

GISD Job Fair This Saturday

On Saturday, November 12, GISD will host a Job Fair at Hammerlun from 9 - 11 AM. Anyone is welcome to attend the job fair and learn about available job opportunities in GISD. 

Various departments will host booths with information about different openings in GISD, and refreshments will be available. Visit our website to learn more and register for the event.

Annual Gifted & Talented Window Open Through Dec. 7

Our annual window for Gifted & Talented referral is open Nov. 1 - Dec. 7, 2022. To find out what it means for a child to be considered Gifted & Talented, please check our website for articles, videos, and lists that can help you make an informed choice before you decide to refer a child to be assessed for Gifted & Talented.  

 

If you would like to refer a child in grades K-11, please
1. Read the referral packet (English / Spanish), and

2. Either submit the paper form in the referral packet to the student's campus or complete the eReferral form (Grades K-5 use this eform) (Grades 6-11 use this eform)

From the City of Georgetown: Future Mobility Plan

The City of Georgetown is currently working to update its Future Mobility Plan (previously called the Overall Transportation Plan). The Future Mobility Plan is a blueprint for the future transportation network in Georgetown. 

Signs are posted in the bus lanes at GISD campuses. We encourage parents and staff to scan the QR Code on those signs to share feedback. You can also access the survey directly and find more information on the city's website at: transportation.georgetown.org

The City also invites public input at a community meeting on Thursday, Nov. 10 from 4 - 7 PM at the Georgetown Public Library.


From the PTA Council: Hugging a Cactus - Honest Talk for Parents of Teens 

Parents are invited to join casual parenting groups to learn new strategies, share ideas, and connect with other parents who are in the same stage. There is one session remaining in November:

November 14 - Supporting Mental Health with GISD school-based therapy team and community therapists 

Sessions will take place from 6:30-7:30 pm.

From the Georgetown Police Department: Applications for Blue Santa

Blue Santa (for families living inside Georgetown city limits):

Families living inside the Georgetown city limits who need assistance providing holiday/Christmas toys, books, games and other items for their children (ages 0-17) may apply for assistance from Georgetown Police Department’s Blue Santa Program.Applications are being accepted now through Dec. 12.

Toy pickup will be held Saturday, Dec. 17 at 3500 DB Wood Rd., Georgetown.

An application is available online. Click here to apply. Paper copies will be available to pick up at your child's campus next week.Not sure if your home is within the Georgetown city limits?
