GISD Celebrates Veterans Day Friday, November 10
Georgetown ISD is excited to continue its tradition of celebrating Veterans Day. This year, Veterans Day falls on a Saturday, and campuses will celebrate the Friday before. Campuses across the district have made plans to fill this special day with parades, performances, watch parties, and more.

Gifted and Talented Referral Window open through Dec. 7

Reminder to Register for AP Exams
If your child is enrolled in an AP course, don't forget to have them register for their exams. Their teachers will be sending reminder emails with deadlines and instructions on how to sign up.
Need help with fees? Have your student reach out to their teacher and/or the counseling office.

From the Georgetown Rotary Club: Field of Honor Now Open
The Rotary Club of Georgetown, in cooperation with the City of Georgetown and Georgetown ISD, is hosting its seventh annual Field of Honor® through Nov. 12 in the field behind the Hammerlun Center for Leadership and Learning, 507 E. University Ave. This location is for this year only, and the event will return to San Gabriel Park in 2024.
The event features a field of up to 1,400 American flags that will be displayed through Nov. 12, each purchased to honor a past or present veteran, active or reserve-duty military, or first responder, including K-9 and equestrian heroes.
A Veterans Day Ceremony will take place at 11am on Nov. 11, featuring keynote speaker retired General Jim Huggins. Flag sales and repost tent will be open from 9am to 6pm Nov. 4-10, 9am to 5pm Nov. 11 and 9am - 3pm Nov. 12.
Proceeds from flag sales benefit veteran and first-responder organizations. Flags that have been purchased can be picked up from Noon to 5 pm Nov. 11 and 9am to 3pm Nov. 12.

From A+Federal Credit Union: Scholarships Available
A+FCU is awarding sixty $2,000 scholarships to students who are or become A+FCU members or are the child of a current member. Eligible applicants must also attend or plan to attend an accredited college or university and be: Graduating high school seniors OR College students pursuing an education degree who have been admitted to the College of Education and have a minimum of 60 collegiate hours OR Teachers pursuing a graduate degree.
The 2024 A+FCU Scholarship Application is open through 11:59 pm on February 2, 2024.

From Soldiers' Angels: Treats for Troops
Soldiers’ Angels Treats for Troops is a Halloween Candy collection program where local businesses and organizations register to collect excess Halloween candy to send to our Troops and Veterans.
Donations will be collected through November 30. You can drop off your candy at SouthStar Bank Georgetown, 4535 Williams Drive.
