Annual Course Guide Update now available

In an effort to continually provide robust learning experiences for our secondary students, GISD annually reviews its programs and course offerings while making updates that align with our district’s mission and vision. These course offerings are published each year in our GISD Secondary Course Guide. Having just concluded this process, the 2024-2025 GISD Secondary Course Guide has been posted to our Teaching and Learning website

We encourage families who have students in GISD secondary schools to orient themselves to the Course Guide, which not only lists all course offerings for middle and high school students but also provides a number of additional useful information to help students get the fullest from their secondary school experience and prepare them for their post-high school plans. Some course addition highlights from this edition include Career Technology Education (CTE) Pathway Updates, GISD Future Ready Complex (FRC) course offerings and more.

Lastly, our annual course guide revision process also includes updates that come to local school districts as a result of new legislation and rulings from the Texas Education Agency.

More information is available on our website.

Stand-Alone Field Testing Feb. 5-9

Field-test data will be collected from a sample of students across the state and results will not be shared with students, campuses, districts, or the state.

Field-test questions and data will be reviewed by the Texas Assessment Program to determine whether the questions are appropriate for inclusion in the test bank. TEA selected campuses and grade levels to participate in the English Reading Language Arts Stand-Alone Field Test during the week of February 5-9. All 3rd-5th grade students testing in Spanish will participate in the Spanish Reading Language Arts Stand-Alone Field Test. Please reach out to your campus if you have any questions about Stand-Alone Field Testing for your student.
