EVHS Culinary Team to Compete at National Competition

The East View Culinary team has qualified for the national competition for the first time in program history. At the state competition in April, the teams placed first and fifth at the FCCLA State Culinary competition. The first place team will move on to compete at the national competition later this summer in Anaheim, California June 29 through July 4.

At the state competition, the students were responsible for making a four-course meal with only two burners in one hour. The state menu included:

  • Spinach salad with shaved red onions, cherry tomatoes, almonds and feta with a red wine vinaigrette
  • Crostini, chive cream cheese, roasted corn, bacon and chive garnish
  • Maple butter glazed chicken breast with fresh thyme, rice pilaf and sautéed green beans
  • Chocolate ganache tart with Oreo crust

The team that will be competing at the national competition includes Tiare McConnel, Jeremiah Knight, and Karlee Satterwhite.

On May 16, the EVHS Culinary Team will be hosting a special dinner event to raise money in an effort to reduce travel costs as they head to California for the national FCCLA competition.

The team will be recreating the State competition dinner menu above, and the event will be held on May 16 in the East View High School Library from 6-8 p.m.

Tickets are $40 per person or $60 per couple. Reservations have been extended to Monday, May 13. For more information and how to pay, please download this flyer.
