Student Artwork Featured in Downtown
Last year, the Georgetown Arts and Culture Board put out a public call for art for the new City buildings, and East View High School art instructor Jessica Sobhani encouraged her students to submit mural ideas in a call for art from the City of Georgetown. Numerous EVHS students submitted artwork samples for consideration for the new Municipal Court. While the student’s artwork was not selected for this particular application, the Board liked the artwork so much, they decided to find another way to display the art.
They decided the Utility Box Public Art Project needed to be updated and the EVHS student artwork was a good fit. This was the first time Georgetown ISD student artwork was selected for participation in the Utility Box Public Art Project.
Now, three Utility Boxes in the City of Georgetown proudly display student artwork. The designs will be available for at least five years.
