Skyward Now Open for Fourth Nine-Weeks Learning Preferences
Families can now update their learning preferences in Skyward Family Access for the fourth nine-weeks grading period. Students may elect to learn in-person or remotely for the next grading period, which begins March 29. This window to update preferences will remain open through Sunday, March 14.
Instructions on how to update your preferences in Skyward can be found on our website.
Share Feedback on the 2022-2023 Academic Calendar
Your feedback on the Georgetown ISD academic calendar is important, and we are asking for your input by completing a brief survey. After hearing from staff, parents and community members, we will develop a few sample calendars that are reflective of the feedback received and share those for review.
A final calendar for the 2022-2023 school year will be presented to the board for approval in June 2020. (As a reminder, the 2021-2022 calendar was approved last spring and is available to view on our website.)
Surveys in both English and Spanish will available on our website through March 26.
2021 Destination Life Transition Fair - March 6
The 2021 Destination… Life Interdistrict Transition Fair will be held on Saturday, March 6 in a virtual format. GISD is one of nine districts involved in this Transition Fair which brings in non-profits and agencies who work with our disability-related community. For more information, please visit our webpage at or contact Special Ed Transition Coordinator, Rachael Hull, at (512) 943-5000 ext 6089 or email hullr@georgetownisd.org.
San Gabriel Writing Project Competition - Deadline Monday
In collaboration with The San Gabriel Writers League (an organization of professional, published writers right here in our own community), middle school students have the unique opportunity to share a piece of their writing for a potential prize.
The deadline for submissions is March 8, 2021.
Students may submit their piece of fiction to their GISD middle school Reading Language Arts teacher.
Or, submissions can be made directly to the secondary ELAR curriculum coordinator at kearneyj@georgetownisd.org.
More information:
- All submissions must include the 2021 Registration Form
- Students will need to access the 2021 Writing Contest Poster for more details.
- Applicants should examine the Judging Criteria document
This is a great opportunity for learners to look back at this year's portfolio of writing to share a piece of fiction. Likewise, students may submit a new piece of writing that has not yet been composed.
Choosing the Best Way - 6th grade sexual health program
Georgetown ISD adopted a new curriculum for human sexuality in the fall of 2020 that will be implemented in the spring semester for students in grades 6 - Choosing the Best Way. Parents can learn more about the curriculum during a recorded virtual session available on Parent U. Additionally, parents will receive more information from their child’s campus in March, including how to opt their child out of lessons.
If you have questions about the program, you can send them to the curriculum team via Let’s Talk.
From our Community Partners:

The program aims to inspire and empower Texan youth to take action and provide valuable resources to:
