Inclement Weather Procedures

As winter arrives in Texas, it’s a good time to remind our community about our process for announcements related to  inclement weather. In the event that schools would be delayed or closed for any reason, including a weather event, we would communicate in a variety of ways. Visit georgetownisd.org/weather for details.

Public Review for Proclamation 2022

Instructional resource and materials adoption occurs every 8-10 years, and your feedback is sought to shape the learning experience of our students for the future.

We invite you to participate in the adoption process for 2022, view materials and share your feedback on the materials you would like to see in our classrooms.

On January 24, from 4:00 - 7:00 pm, materials will be on-site at the Hammerlun Center for Leadership and Learning to view and provide feedback.

The following courses will have instructional resources for review:

  • Physical Education
  • Health

This is a come-and-go event. If you are unable to attend, you can still provide feedback and access the feedback form by visiting our GISD website by February 4j.

If you have questions about any of the materials, please submit a Let's Talk. Simply click on the button for "Proclamation 2022" and a member of our team will get back to you.

Updated COVID Testing + Protocols

RAPID TESTING
As a reminder, COVID testing will occur on regular school business days at Pickett Elementary School between 7 am and 1 pm and be administered by licensed medical professionals who are contracted with GISD.

  • This rapid antigen test service is being provided for free to all students and staff in GISD who are not experiencing COVID-like symptoms but who may have been in contact with or exposed to a COVID-positive individual.
  • Pre-registration is required before testing can occur. Pre-registration does not indicate that you are requesting a test appointment, but it will help expedite service if/when you need it.

Use Access Code: GISDTESTING

PCR TESTING
If a student or staff member is experiencing COVID-like symptoms, they should contact a health provider for a PCR test. PCR and rapid PCR tests are currently being offered for free at numerous locations in Williamson County. Register for a Curative walk-up test here.

For more information on GISD protocols and testing options, please visit our website.

AT-HOME TESTING
Starting today, residential households in the U.S. can order one set of four free at-home tests from USPS.com. Here’s what you need to know about your order:

  • Limit of one order per residential address
  • One order includes 4 individual rapid antigen COVID-19 tests
  • Orders will ship free starting in late January

Simply visit https://special.usps.com/testkits for details and to sign up.

SEL Academy: Call for Parent Stories

We are seeking stories from GISD parents and guardians to foster more meaningful connections between our staff and the families of our students. These stories can feature challenge, triumph, or seek to educate GISD staff about what parents and guardians wish schools knew.

If a story is selected, a staff member will reach out to schedule a convenient time and place to capture the story on audio. Stories only need to be 1 to 5 minutes in length, and guardians may remain anonymous if they wish.

The following are just a few ideas we’re seeking:

  • Military Parents
  • Spanish Speaking Parents
  • Foster Parents
  • Grandparents raising grandkids
  • Parents of students with a disability
  • Parents of students with a serious illness
  • GISD alum who experienced significant events in their school years

Share your stories by February 1 via this Google form.

Georgetown ISD Board Approves Renewal of DOI Plan

The Georgetown ISD DOI Plan is up for renewal in 2022. Leading up to this date, the District Performance Committee, composed of community members, staff, parents and business representatives have reviewed, revised and adopted a proposal for renewal.

The proposed plan was reviewed at the public meeting of the Georgetown ISD Board of Trustees on December 13, 2021 and approved at the January 18, 2022 meeting.

You can view the proposed GISD DOI Plan on our website.

You Might Qualify for Federal Benefits- Deadline to apply is Jan. 22

What’s known as the “Federal Free and Reduced Lunch Application” is really about so much more than lunch. Your child is already benefiting from the free meals GISD is able to provide this school year, and some of you may have even considered that because meals are free, there’s no reason to complete the form. However, there are so many benefits beyond school lunch.

Applications also help determine the amount our schools receive in federal funding.  This money is used in a number of ways including learning programs like STEM and Literacy nights and other educational programming.

And your family can qualify for added benefits for your household, including P-EBT benefits established during COVID, but only if you complete the application.

Please consider completing the form today and helping to secure funds for our schools next year.

We’re Hiring

Georgetown ISD had openings for custodians, bus drivers, substitute teachers and more.  Check out our Careers page today to find opportunities that make a difference in the life of a child. Competitive pay and benefits for most positions!
