GISD Swimmers win and place at 5A State Championship

GHS Swimmers Win 5A State Championship

GISD is pleased to share that for the first time in Georgetown High School Eagle swimming history, the boys swim team won the UIL 5A  State Championship Meet Greyson Alarcon, Landon Alarcon, Will Corona, Corby Furrer, Danny Pineiro, Trent Culbertson alt., and Jentzen Hartsell alt. Beat out  every other boys’ 5A team in Texas at this past weekend’s state meet. Will Corona, Greyson Alarcon, Landon Alarcon, and Corby Furrer finished in 1st  place in the 200 freestyle relay with a 1:24.87, setting a new record. Will Corona, Greyson Alarcon, Danny Pineiro, and Corby Furrer finished 1st  in the 400 freestyle relay with a 3:05.16, setting a new 5A record and team record. GHS Eagle girl swimmer, Cierra Scully placed 9th in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:54.85. She also placed 11th in the 100 butterfly with a 58.46  

Greyson Alarcon:

State Champion in 100 butterfly with a 48.05 setting a new 5A record and besting his own team record.

State Champion in the 100 backstroke with a 48.89 setting a new team record.

Set a new team record in the 50 fly with a 22.49

Landon Alarcon:

6th in the 200 individual medley with a 1:55.35

7th in the 100 breastroke with a 59.67

Will Corona:

2nd in the 200 individual medley with a 1:49.95 setting a new team record

2nd in the 100 freestyle with 46.05

Set a new team record in the 50 free with a 21.30

Set a new team record in the 100 free with 46.15

Corby Furrer:

2nd in the 200 freestyle with a 1:38.84

State Champion in the 500 freestyle with a 4:31.69 setting a new team record

Danny Pineiro:

8th in the 200 freestyle with a 1:42.95

13th in the 100 freestyle with a 47.62

Cierra Scully: 

She placed 9th in the 200 freestyle with a 1:54.85

She also placed 11th in the 100 butterfly with a 58.46

EVHS Swimmer Places at UIL State Meet

EVHS swimmer Virginia Lutz competed at the State Swim Meet at the University of Texas this past weekend. Virginia competed in the 50 Freestyle and placed 11th in Consolation Finals with a new school record of 24.20.
