Eagle Fight Never Dies
Information is now available on the Attendance Zones web page.
Growth in Georgetown requires thoughtful planning and the board of trustees reviewed a plan at the October meeting to rezone parts of the district that would be implemented with the 2020-2021 school year.
The process will create attendance zones for Williams Elementary School and Wolf Ranch Elementary School, both of which are under construction now and planned for a late summer 2020 opening. Additionally, zones will be adjusted to relieve capacity issues at Carver Elementary, Mitchell Elementary and Wagner Middle Schools as well as maximize capacity at all GISD campuses.
The committee, comprised of district leaders and principals at impacted campuses, is focused on recommending attendance zones that consider student demographics and geography while allowing for minimal disruption to student cohorts over time.
Nov. 18 - The board will see the third-quarter report from the district's demographer. This information is used to inform the committee regarding projected areas of growth.
Nov. 19 - Release the first draft of attendance zones to the public and provide a form for feedback
December - Host public meetings to gather feedback and answer questions
