Take a Virtual Tour of GISD’s New Elementary Schools!
These two new schools were built with funds from the 2018 bond to support growing enrollment in the southern areas of Georgetown. Both campuses opened in August and welcomed new students on September 10. We wish we could invite the community in for a ribbon-cutting event. Until we’re able to do that, we invite you to take a virtual tour. The architectural qualities of these campuses support our Learner Profile and encourage collaboration and exploration.
Sept. 21: Student Holiday
Monday, Sept. 21 is a student holiday and teacher in-service day. The district is open for regular business operations.
College, Career, and Military Readiness Presents: Future Readiness Week
Save the date for GISD's Virtual Future Readiness Week for middle and high Schools Sept. 28 - Oct. 3. This unique opportunity will feature colleges, vocational programs, and military, as well as careers in public manufacturing, local security organizations, and with regional employers. Students will be able to meet representatives from different career paths and discuss the admissions process, college financing options, and other paths to success, all in a virtual format. More information will be coming soon. We hope you will join us to ensure every student in GISD has the tools to postsecondary success!
COVID-19 Dashboard Tracks Positive Cases
On Sept. 16, the district launched a COVID-19 Dashboard that reflects newly reported and lab confirmed Covid-19 cases for students and staff in Georgetown ISD. You can access the dashboard from any district or campus home page via the COVID-19 Information button and directly at www.georgetownisd.org/COVID19. Information is updated regularly and aligns with data that is also reported to the state and included in more comprehensive dashboards. GISD is providing this dashboard to inform our community and help families make informed decisions related to their students.
Please note that parents are notified of any lab confirmed cases at their child’s campus.
You can find additional information about the district’s safety plan including isolation and screening protocols at www.georgetownisd.org/backtoschoolplan and on your child’s campus home page under “COVID-19 Response.”
Free and Reduced-Price Meals For Qualified Families
Free and reduced-price meals may be available for your student(s).
Eligibility guidelines apply. If your family experienced job loss due to COVID, you could qualify even if you did not in the past.
You can learn more about the criteria for free and reduced lunch and complete the application on our website.
Those individuals filling out the application will need to provide the following information:
- Names of all household members
- Amount, frequency and source of current income for each household member
- Last 4 digits of the Social Security number of the adult household member who signs the application or, if the adult does not have a social security number, check the box for “No Social Security number”
- Signature of an adult household member attesting that the information provided is correct Categorical or Program Eligibility
Paper copies of the application may also be obtained at each campus or administration building throughout the district. You may also contact Jesse Marrujo, federal programs specialist, at 512-943-5000 x 7176 or marrujoj@georgetownisd.org if you have additional questions.
Unexpected Circumstances
If a household member becomes unemployed or if the household size increases, the household should contact the school. Such changes may make the children of the household eligible for benefits if the household’s income falls at or below the income eligibility guidelines.
Uniendo Families Meeting, Thursday, Sept. 24
The first Uniendo Familias meeting of the school year will be held Thursday, Sept. 24 at 6 p.m. This will be a virtual meeting in Spanish to discuss how to navigate the district website, programs and community resources. We hope any and all can log in and join us. More information is available on this flyer.

If you didn’t receive an official Census invitation, it’s not too late to take the 2020 Census! Your participation helps inform how important federal money is spent in our community for things like school lunch programs, student loans, health clinics, and more.
