ELAR New Resource Adoption for High School
What you need to know Instructional resources and materials adoption happens every 8-10 years and your input is vital to shape the learning experience of our students for the future.
We invite you to participate in the high school English Language Arts and Reading (ELAR) materials adoption process for 2020, visit with vendors and share feedback on the materials you would like to see in our classrooms.
On November 22, from 12:30 - 5:30 p.m., vendors will be on-site at the Hammerlun Center for Leadership and Learning to visit with teachers, staff, parents and community members about the proposed materials and options available.
You’ll have a chance to review these materials, ask questions and provide feedback.
This is a come-and-go event. If you’re unable to attend, you can still provide feedback. View digital samples, see the TEKS alignment report and access the feedback form on our website by December 13.
If you have questions about the High School ELAR adoption, Let’s Talk. Simply click on the button for “High School Materials Adoption” and a member of our team will get back to you.
District to Host Rezoning Meetings in December
Growth in Georgetown requires thoughtful planning, and your feedback is needed to determine future attendance zones for the new Williams and Wolf Ranch elementary schools, which are under construction now and planned for a late summer 2020 opening. Additionally, zones will be adjusted to relieve capacity issues at Carver Elementary, Mitchell Elementary and Wagner Middle Schools as well as maximize capacity at all GISD campuses. Four public meetings will be held in December. You can also send share your feedback via Let's Talk.
Middle School Future Readiness Fairs
GISD’s Middle School Future Readiness Fairs are taking place this December.
Students from Forbes and Benold and their parents are invited to Georgetown High School on December 3rd from 6:00 - 8:00 PM in the cafeteria.
Students from Tippit and Wagner and their parents are invited to East View High School on December 10th from 6:00 - 8:00 PM in the cafeteria.
Both events will feature parent sessions on graduation requirements; parent sessions on advanced academics options in high school; a high school student panel providing guidance to middle school students; facility tours; and an array of demonstrations and informational booths for career paths, high school courses, and student clubs and organizations. Eighth grade students and their parents don’t want to miss this one opportunity to learn more about high school options, to see classrooms and laboratories, and to visit with high school students and teachers.
Survey: Academic Calendar
Your feedback on the academic calendar is important and we are asking for your input by completing this brief survey. More information and parameters for consideration are available on our website.
