Sora - Audiobooks and eBooks for Middle School & High School Students
We are excited to introduce Georgetown ISD’s newest reading platform, Sora! Sora is an app or website where you can access thousands of popular audio and ebooks. These items were purchased by the GISD librarians based on the most popular checkouts at each secondary school. Using Sora, you can earn badges, bookmark your spots, make notes, and define words as you read. Middle school and high school students can get to Sora through ClassLink or by downloading the Sora app (on Apple or Android devices) and signing in with their GISD login information. Important note: When prompted, search for Georgetown ISD, not your school. Students can check out ebooks and audiobooks for two weeks, and put holds on two more items. Inside the Sora app, you can sync your public library account to access even more free books! Need to create a Georgetown Public Library account? Call (512) 930-3551 or stop by their building!
From Our Community Partners:
Free Kids Meals This Summer at Taco Cabana
Taco Cabana is offering kids a free lunch – including a bean and cheese taco, chips and queso and a drink – at all Texas locations through the end of summer. The program is available to kids 12 and under, every weekday from 11 a.m. to noon. The offer is available through the drive-thru only at all company-owned locations in Texas for a limited time. Children must be present and accompanied by a parent or guardian to receive a free meal. No purchase is necessary.
From the Georgetown Complete Count Committee: 2020 Census
Have you taken the 2020 Census yet? Georgetown has one of the highest response rates in Central Texas so far at 67.5 percent! But we need to ensure everyone is counted! To complete the Census online, visit my2020census.gov or call 1-844-330-2020. You count! Did you know that Census data is used to help fund local projects like school lunch programs? The Census Bureau is hiring for temporary, part-time positions. Learn more at https://2020census.gov/en/jobs.
