From the City of Georgetown: Parks and Recreation Master Plan

The City of Georgetown is working on a Parks and Recreation Master Plan, which will guide our parks and recreation investment for at least the next 10 years. We’re seeking your input and experiences, to make sure that plan reflects our community.

Please take 15 minutes out of your day between now and July 25 to share your priorities, hopes, and dreams for the future of parks and rec in Georgetown: https://georgetownparksurvey.org/open

This survey also was mailed to 4,000 local residents for a statistically valid sample. If you received a mailed survey, please follow those instructions instead.

The results of this survey will serve as a blueprint for our priorities for improvement, growth, programs, and other opportunities.

Georgetown residents are invited to cast their votes for the People’s Choice Award in a sculpture exhibit at the Georgetown Public Library. The Texas Society of Sculptors summer show features work from sculptors from across the state who work in wood, glass, bronze, ceramics, and more.

Residents can vote for up to three of the 78 pieces placed throughout the library through 5 p.m. Saturday, July 31. To cast a vote, pick up a ballot in the library’s lobby, fill it out after perusing the exhibit, and place it in the ballot box! The sculptor of the piece with the most votes will be awarded the People’s Choice award and a cash price at a reception at 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 15, in the library.

All awards are funded by the Georgetown Arts and Culture Board. In addition to the People’s Choice award, there will be first, second, and third prizes, three honorable mentions, and a Librarians’ Choice award for the piece selected by library staff.

Later this summer, several artists working in different sculpting techniques will put on a demonstration from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, in the library lobby. The exhibit runs through Friday, Sept. 17.
