Medication Administration

If you would like your child to receive oral nonprescription medication at school, such as Tylenol, Advil, Benadryl, Tums, Cough Drops and Throat Strips, you must bring the medication to the school nurse and complete the Request for Administration of Medication form.

We are not allowed to give over 10 consecutive doses of an over-the-counter medicine without a doctor’s order.

If your student is to receive a prescription medication, we need a completed form from the doctor’s office.  I am happy to fax the paperwork for you if you need me too. Please also complete the Release of Information form allowing me to contact your Pediatrician's office if the need arises.  I will always call the parents/guardians prior to any doctor phone calls.

In accordance with the Nurse Practice Act; Texas Administrative Code, Section 217.11, the Registered Nurse has the responsibility and authority to refuse to administer medications that, in the nurse’s judgment, are contra-indicated for administration to the student.
