Hammerlun Leadership Academy
Georgetown ISD believes that developing leaders is vital to our success. Leadership development at all levels drives our performance as a district and viability as a thriving community.
The district invests heavily in the development of staff in a variety of ways, from regular professional development to leadership and learning academies like this one.
Unlike some learning academies that focus on developing individuals for success in specific roles, the Hammerlun Leadership Academy is designed for any staff member who is ready to invest in becoming their best personal self so that they can be more impactful in whatever role they choose in their professional and personal life.
The Academy is named for Jerry Hammerlun, a family man, public servant, businessman and friend to Georgetown ISD. Jerry believed that by investing in people, it would allow them to grow, mature, learn and to have greater impact. Following his unexpected death in 2018, the architecture firm where he was a partner, Huckabee, Inc., made a donation to the Georgetown ISD Education Foundation, with the vision of developing a leadership program that embodied Jerry’s ideal for good leaders and honored the mission, vision, beliefs and culture of Georgetown ISD. After thoughtful planning and collaboration, the Hammerlun Leadership Academy was born in 2021. The first cohort will kick off in June.
Participants can expect a series of sessions during a 10-month period that include off site experiences, learning from established thought-leaders, and a deep dive into personal leadership exploration.
